I hope you are all having a great school year thus far! Just wanted to take a few minutes to remind you that our meetings will be held on Monday, October 14th at Hope Christian School. I have attached copies of all of the forms that we have given out thus far. I am unfortunately having to delete one activity, but we are adding a couple so please read all of the information and reminders below.
Registration Forms & Dues
The registration form is attached to this email. If you have not yet turned yours in, please fill this out and bring it with you to our meeting. Also, dues need to be turned in with that form. If you turned in your form and no dues, please bring those with you. We can take checks (made payable to HCS) or cash.
Please remember that, in addition to the registration form, you are required to have one letter of recommendation and a written personal testimony. The November meeting will be the last day to have those submitted.
The Fall Festival was on our schedule to have a booth, but due to time schedule (I am teaching during the festival) we are unable to have a booth. I would like to encourage you to participate if possible. It is a fun day for everyone! Sorry for this change!
Diapers for Sav-A-Life
Please remember we are still collecting diapers for Sav-A-Life. We will collect these through our November meeting. At our November meeting, we will be packaging these for them to distribute to women who come to them for counseling. We have collected quite a few, but would love to have a record number of diapers to be a blessing to them.
Back Pack Buddy Bags
At the beginning of the year, I told you that we would be helping out a Back Pack Buddy program by packing treat bags for special occasions. A few of those were on our calendar, but I decided I would like to add a treat bag for the fall. We will be decorating and packing those bags at our meeting on Monday, October 14th. The items needed for those bags can be accessed at the following signup genius link:
Please sign up for the item and number of the items you will commit to bring through the link. This will insure that we receive what we need.
Operation Christmas Child Packaging Center
I have been able to secure 20 spots to travel to the Operation Christmas Child Processing Center in Atlanta for Monday, December 16, 2019 from 1:00 to 6:00 (Atlanta Time). We will be helping them to check the items in the donated boxes to make sure they are the appropriate items and packing them in large boxes to be shipped to the children. They have a minimum age limit of 13 and require us to have 1 adult for every 4 people under the age of 18. This will be a long shift of standing on your feet and hard work, but is also fun (because we get to be together) and rewarding (we get the opportunity to serve and pray over these boxes before they are shipped). I need to know as soon as possible if you are interested in going. If we get more than 20 volunteers I could try to get more spots, but I can not guarantee that I would be able to do so. I am going to ask that you make sure you would be able to go before you volunteer – I would not want to hold a spot for you if you are unsure. Please EMAIL ME AT THIS ADDRESS if you want to go – that will help me to have it where I can go back and look at all of my responses in the same place.
Day of Change
On Friday, October 18th Ronald McDonald House will host their annual Day of Change Fundraiser and Celebration. This year they are celebrating 40 years on this date that Ronald McDonald House has been serving families. On the day of change, they encourage volunteers and supporters to come by and have lunch with them to show our support. If you would like to join us for this , please respond at the following link: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/5080D4EA8AC2BAAFA7-dayofchange
The address and times are included in this link.
We are currently taking orders for our Beta Club Shirts for this year. The design (attached to this email) this year incorporates all of our new clubs as well (Engineering, Robotics, Quiz Bowl). The attached design is not the final proof so it may vary slightly when the printer does the final design. If you would like to order a shirt, the cost is $15. The order form is also attached to this email. These shirts are not required unless you are attending convention this year. If you plan to attend convention, this is the shirt we will wear on the Thursday of Beta Convention (Elementary, Junior, and Senior). Last year I added the cost of the shirt into your convention cost, but we are ordering them early in order to have them for some of our service projects. Shirt orders are due no later than our November meeting.
We are registered for the Ronald McDonald House Pop Tab Pandemonium competition. Please be saving your pop tabs off of soda or other cans and bring them to our meetings. I have attached a flyer about the program for your information. I will give you more details on the end date of the competition as that becomes available to me.
Check In Procedure
When you arrive to our meetings each month, there will be a check in table in the hall upstairs. Please be sure to go to this table to turn in any necessary forms or payments.
Service Hours Submission
Beta members are required to submit 30 service hours each year. I have created a very easy way to submit your service hours. Any time you have service hours, simply go to the following link to submit your service hours.
You do not have to wait until you have all 30 to submit them. It is best to submit them after every service project. This will allow me to have a spreadsheet of everyone’s submitted hours. We will have some prizes at the end of the year based on service hours!!!
Snacks for meeting days
Since there are no drink or snack machines on campus, we will be have a small snack bar available on our meeting days. All proceeds from the sales will go back into our clubs.
I know I have given you a lot of information at one time, but I just want to be sure you have information on our upcoming activities. Please feel free to let me know if you have any questions!
I am super thrilled with our number of members this year and excited about the opportunities before us to be the hands and feet of Jesus!
